HOPE COMMUNITY CHURCH MEMBERSHIP COVENANT

Having trusted in Jesus as the forgiver of my sin and leader of my life and being in agreement with the vision, mission and essential beliefs of Hope Community Church, I unite with this church family and commit myself to God and my brothers and sisters to do the following:

BELONG in God’s Family

… By loving one another

"Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude." 1 Peter 3:8

… By resolving conflict quickly

"If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back." Matthew 18:15

… By becoming part of a small group

"And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity." Acts 2:44-46

GROW Spiritually

… By attending worship regularly

"And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near." Hebrews 10:25

… By giving / tithing regularly

"On the first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned. Don’t wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once." 1 Corinthians 16:2

"One tenth of the produce of the land, whether grain from the fields or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD and must be set apart to him as holy." Lev. 27:30

… By engaging in spiritual practices regularly

"Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly. 8 “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” 1 Timothy 4:7-8

SERVE God and Others

… By identifying my gifts and talents

"In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. " Romans 12:6

… By developing a servant’s heart

"You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being." Philippians 2:5-7

… By serving others strategically

" God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another." 1 Peter 4:10

SHARE My Faith

… By investing in friendships with non-believers

"Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone." Colossians 4:5-6

… By inviting the un-churched

So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full. Luke 14:23

… By reaching out to serve the community

"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
